On the banks of Hook Creek, nestled at the end of the runway at JFK, we found an empty five-bedroom home with great bones and working watermen neighbors. We spent four months updating the house, repurposing wood from an abandoned dock to use as molding and design elements throughout the home. A family of five moved in from a two-bedroom apartment in the Rockaways, and now each young adult child now has their own bedroom, all with a view of the creek. The family happily shares the property with a pair of swans, mallard ducks, some Great Blue Heron, a nighthawk and a cormorant.
